Italy - Bergamo and Milano

First things first, Hi welcome to the blog. So my first ever trip aboard came this year when I went to Milan, Italy, First time flying with my two friends setting off from the East Midlands Airport, The airport itself was quick and easy however, No-one told me how to go through security properly so me being tried walking through with my passport and mobile in my hands like a tit.

Fast forward through the boring bits to us Arriving at Bergamo airport 2 hours after setting off where we board shuttlebus straight to the terminal, Security and Boarder control was quick and simple. Bergamo is 50 min train ride or bus ride to Milan (Milano) itself.

Me and the lads decided to check out Bergamo at its an old little town split in to two parts Upper City and Lower City, It was 23 degrees and very warm so switched into shorts on a hill lol and walked in the massive hills as you can see from the pictures below. In Bergamo the lads went to a restaurant but with me being a very fussy eater I didn't order any food ,which by the looks of the waiter he was fuming however I did have a Vodka and Orange (Freshly squeezed) which was reasonably priced at 6 Euros.

More to follow below

We then jumped on the double decker train to Lambrate in Milan which was nice ride itself however then it started to rain but it was still extremely warm we managed to get to the hotel with the help of google maps always have a phone handy funny story about that later.

Lambrate is literally a 10min Metro ride to the town centre, The Metro I must say is brilliant all thought it was busy it wasn't as packed as it would be on the London Underground, We went to one of the cheapest hotels in Milan as we mainly came to see football, Inter Milan vs Empoli. The hotel was close to the Metro, and Train station and was a decent size room with an extra bed close to local supermarkets which seemed good value and amazing value for products especially if your into Wine or Lemoncello.

One really good thing that was in Italy was there are loads of Gluten Free products and food products in restaurants including Gluten Free Pizza, One of my friends his Gluten Free so he was buzzing and like I said earlier it was good value for money. On the other hand, I thought chicken was well known around the world to eat however barely saw anything chicken on any of the menu's but that's just me a fussy eater.

After day one we pretty crashed out due to being up at 4am to catch the 7:45am Plane, However we was up early the next morning and left the hotel around 9am headed off to the metro to get into town you walk out of the metro at Duomo to this.

Duomo Cathedral even in the rain it looks amazing then to the right you have this beautiful shopping mall all pictures taken by me except for the bottom right picture. It is such a lovely place pictures can't describe how nice it is, its a must see if you go to Milan the town centre is just so nice they even have a Starbucks Roastery that you can go in see them making coffee as well as getting a coffee, cake or even an acholic beverage as there is a bar as well.

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants within the town square where most of them are very nice and greet you to try get you in the place however they are very understanding and not pushy when you declined.

There are plenty of parks and interesting places to see in Milan however one place to go is the cannels in the day time its like a ghost town however at night the place comes alive with their being so many pubs and restaurants with many doing a happy hour special which last for about 3-4 hours. One place called Maz what it was called but it was a Spanish bar we went on the strip it was 12.99 euros and you got drink and a sample of all the food menu which included a starter, main and desert. Drinks prices are reasonable with drink costing around 8-10 euros there is plenty of business trying to get you in by offering free shots with a drink we did end up going to a pub called Bada Boom where we got 2 free shots with our drink.

The bus and trams seemed to be running late however the metro closes at 10pm for some reason the bus we caught back was extremely busy with it being the late bus and at 2:45am now here is the part me and 2 mates phone battery's had died . It was pitch black now we knew what the stop was called to get off but didn't know where it was lucky for a couple of Italians had heard us speaking and told us that they was getting off at our stop too and then asked us a couple of questions just the usual where you from in England etc which was nice and we managed to get off at the right stop and I remembered the location of the hotel.
